Based on the overwhelming popularity of Conejo’s Barril featured in the club back in June of 2019, we bottled up another one his Karwinskiis. Well, two actually.
Most producers in Minas tell us that Marteño and Largo are the same plant that have been reproduced in two different ways, providing two different flavor profiles. The cultivated Marteño is unique to Santa Catarina Minas and the name comes from a nearby village called Santa Marta. Largo, meaning large, is what many locals call the largest karwinskii, Tobaziche.
If you want to do an advanced tasting flight, we have three karwinskiis, all from the same producer, all in clay pot, all distilled in the same month. See if you can distinguish the different profiles in each.
Search the Maguey Melate facebook page by “Conejo” and see all of our June 2019 content related to this producer.
